In 1997, the Prince even prepared a meal for her – peanut butter on toast – which she ate after she and the other girls were flown by helicopter to the royal residence of Highgrove.
Mel had later revealed the information on an episode of Graham Norton’s talk show.
On this latest occasion, in 2022, he had greeted her with a “how are you” but according to Mel, he seemed unsure why she was being recognized for an MBE.
“[He said]: ‘So why are you here, is it the Spice Girls?'” she recalls, “and I was like, ‘I wish we got an MBE for the Spice Girls!'”
