Salesforce is expanding MuleSoft’s automation tools at their annual event.
Between the pandemic, inflation and the widening skills gap and talent shortage, 2022 has proved to be a difficult year for most companies. In recent years, companies have been forced to re-evaluate their process and plunge headlong into digital transformation. This transformation means different things to different businesses, but more often than not, looking at automation increase efficiency and accuracy. This was a continuous chorus at MuleSoft Connect 2022†
A recent report from Salesforce and Vanson Bourne found that 91% of companies had a higher demand for: automation in their processes over the past two years. The report also notes that 96% of those surveyed said adapting and rebuilding their automation is difficult due to the frequently changing needs of businesses.
MuleSoft increases access to automation tools
During the keynote of the event, MuleSoft’s SVP of Product Stephen Hsu outlined their goal to empower teams to integrate and automate.
MuleSoft introduced their suite of automation tools and gave a demo at their annual event:
- MuleSoft RPA (robotic process automation)
- MuleSoft Composer
- Anypoint platform
These tools are designed with: no code capabilities so that both technical and non-technical teams would be able to pivot and adapt to changing workflows. Instead of spending precious time on tasks like manual data entry, users could build an automated process that would be more efficient and reduce the user errors associated with manual tasks.
“It is vital that organizations better adapt to technological change so that they can build automations and connect data and applications in a holistic way,” said Matt McLarty, global field CTO & VP of the digital transformation firm at MuleSoft.

How does MuleSoft RPA work?
Just as it sounds, robotic process automation combines robotics and automation to handle repetitive processes.
“RPA tools can record users performing repetitive tasks and generate a script that the software robot follows to perform that task,” Mulesoft said. “Often, the script that creates this bot is based on the clicks, inputs, movements, and general actions the user has performed on the screen. The RPA bot will then follow the script to repeat those steps — capturing data and manipulating the applications and systems, just like humans would.”
MuleSoft RPA will be generally available in early August 2022.
What is Mulesoft Composer?
Once users build the automation, MuleSoft will have their Composure no-code integration platform to connect data to apps. These apps can include those from the Salesforce family, such as Slack and Tableau, but also integrate with non-Salesforce apps.

AnyPoint Platform fights API sprawl
As automations are developed, MuleSoft offers their AnyPoint platform as a means for IT teams to manage, monitor and secure any automation and integration built with APIs or bots.
During one of their sessions, MuleSoft team members Sameer Parulkar, director of product marketing, Jing Li, director of product management, and Parvez Mohammed, director of product management discussed this issue of API growth. They described API extension as an issue where IT departments will develop APIs when they need them, and eventually end up in a cloud. Other developers and team members are completely unaware that they exist, so they end up creating new APIs. The AnyPoint Platform catalogs APIs, allowing developers to reuse or reconfigure them rather than constantly rebuilding them.
MuleSoft Connect took place in New York on June 29 and June 30 in London, Paris and Sydney, and MuleSoft took the opportunity to unveil its latest automation and integration tools.
